Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. At the age of five the carnival barker father passed away which left Ruth's mother without a choice other than to work as a cleaning girl and waitress to support her family. Ruth grew in a poor Boston tenement neighborhood, Massachusetts. She went to school in the area. However, she was only in school for two years before going on to pursue an acting career. It was a difficult path to pursue. Although she got a job as a hat check girl in New York posing as a writer for a mystery publication however, there were no theatre opportunities that came her way. In New York, she was employed in a bar as an entry-point girl, before quitting after a few months and moving to Boston. It was the New England Repertory Company was her first gig as a steady actor. Earned money doing shifts during the day, in the ushering department. She also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she specialized in drama.
